About me

I'm Caroline. In 2014, after years of domestic abuse, I filed for divorce from my Turkish husband, setting into motion a series of events I could never have thought possible. Events that led to me fleeing Turkey, where I had lived for almost ten years, and driving through Europe with my then nine-year-old daughter. As we travelled through Greece, Italy, France and Spain, I began to write about my experiences. It started as a way of processing the events, a kind of cathartic release of words onto the page and eventually became my first book, The Other Side of Fear that was published in 2024.
In telling my story, I want to educate and inform people about the subtleties, complexities and nuances of domestic abuse, help explain why many women don’t “just leave,” and give hope and inspiration to those still trapped in fear.
I currently live in Spain with my daughter, where I work as a freelance writer. I continue to write fiction in my free time and am working on my second novel.
